Director of Bloomfield

Preschool & Childcare Center

Jessica Salvador

Jessica Salvador is the Director of Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center located in Bloomfield Congregational Church.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Masters Degree with certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from the University of Hartford.  Jessica has over 19 years of experience working with young children. Her passion for working with children began at an early age and grew through her many roles in the early childhood education field.  She believes “watching every child feel, grow and develop is an amazing experience.  Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and to be someone the children in your care love.”

Since becoming the Director of Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center in 2021, Jessica has initiated programs that have resulted in positive family and community relationships and partnerships with other programs.  Enrollment has increased, students participate in enrichment programs that support student success, and all children are engaged in daily hands on activities.  Teachers participate in monthly professional development programs. Jessica has truly transformed Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center into an innovative community school and center where social-emotional learning, arts and academics provide a well-rounded education for all children.

Jessica is the mother of four boys: Elijah 15, Jayden 10, Isaiah 4 and Josiah 1.  When she is not leading the school, she is doing some fun activity with her family.  In her spare time, she enjoys learning new things, traveling, hiking and other outdoor activities.

Jen Chung

Jen Chung holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with the focus of N-3 from what is now called University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. While undergoing her Bachelor’s, she also majored in Psychology.

Jen has extensive experience working with children. She started out babysitting at 15 and has been teaching and caring for children from infants to school-age for over 20 years. As a child, Jen would volunteer afterschool to help teachers set up their classrooms for the next day.

Jen first started with the school in August of 2013. She started out as a head teacher, helping with the process of the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and renewal of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation, before becoming an assistant director. She has been a mentor and role model throughout these years.

As a single parent mom to her beautiful 13-year-old daughter, Jasmine, she also loves her 5 fur baby hamsters. Jen has two Chinese hamsters, Alaska and Storm, as well as 3 Syrian hamsters; one girl, Buttercream and two boys, Gus and Bean. In her free time, Jen loves to spend time with her family, go to the beach and is a self described “foodie” who loves to cook delicious homemade meals.

She is a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child and that communication is the key to success.
