On Saturday, January 28, Jen Chung, the Assistant Director for the Bloomfield Preschool & Child Development Center, Steve Cheney, and Mr. Chung went to Amazon to grab 27 boxes of donated items and four microwaves from Amazon.

Jen Chung, in partnership with Amazon through Steve Cheney, wanted to help the school and the other programs from the church, including the Backpack Program, Loaves and Fishes, and Community Kitchen. Jen and Steve had to go through many applications and write numerous letters to be given the opportunity to sponsor the school. After over a year of trying, Jen was accepted to an Amazon program to sponsor and represent the school, church, and other church programs.

I have been with the school for a while now and want to help our school, families, and other programs needing help. As a single mom, I know about struggles and had others in my community reach out to help me when I couldn’t afford the essentials. This is my way of giving back to the community,” said Jen.

Preschool & Childcare Accreditation Success!

On January 19th we received exciting news. Our Bloomfield Preschool and Childcare Center passed their NAEYC inspection with flying colors! This means that our NAEYC accreditation is good for another 5-year term! This will extend our accreditation to over 35 consecutive years; one of the longest in the State.

In order to be NAEYC accredited, programs must demonstrate, the highest standards in teaching, facilities, childcare, and much more.

"We got 90% or above in all accreditation categories! That took a lot of hard work and dedication to make happen. I am so happy and proud of everyone that made this happen," said Director Jessica Salvador.

Thank you to our wonderful teachers, staff, and leadership. They all excel at what they do as they care for and encourage these amazing children. We are truly blessed to be able to make such a big impact on our community and the next generation.

This is wonderful news. I’m impressed but not at all surprised. We have the best teachers, the best leaders, and the best preschool and childcare center in the region. This community of faith helps make that possible. I am grateful for everyone involved,” said Pastor Shawn.

Pancakes With Santa!

This Sunday after service, we hosted a pancake breakfast with Santa for the families of the school and congregation.

There were a lot of big smiles, big fluffy pancakes, and one big white beard. After finishing their pancakes, everyone got the chance to meet Santa and tell him exactly how good they were this year.

"Thanks to all who attended the breakfast with Santa. A special thank you to Crystal, our chef in the kitchen, the Bloomfield Preschool and Childcare Center teachers, and church volunteers who helped make this event special for our whole community," says Director Jessica Salvador.

Pastor Shawn got in on the fun, showing up to help spread the holiday cheer.

“It was so much fun, and it’s wonderful to see how closely our school and church are working together. It’s becoming a real team," said Pastor Shawn.

Our Bloomfield Preschool and Childcare Center and people from our Community Kitchen and others collaborated to make this a huge success. Thank you to everyone involved!

We Reached 10,000!!

We are so elated to announce that the Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center Diaper Drive has reached its goal of 10,000 diapers donated.

Pastor Shawn had this to say in regard to meeting this goal. “When we set the goal at 10,000 diapers, a lot of people said that’s an awfully ambitious goal. They weren’t wrong. I wondered if we’d make it too. It’s ok to have goals that stretch us, even ones we miss. But, we don’t need God involved in the goals that aren’t ambitious."

We are incredibly thankful for everyone who showed up for their community by donating diapers or monetarily. Your impact will be felt by the many families who use The Diaper Bank of Connecticut!

"I'm grateful for everyone that helped raise awareness of this costly cause and those who donated. I love being a part of the Bloomfield Congregational Church Community," said the Director of Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center, Jessica Salvador.

A special thanks to Jessica Salvador who took the time and effort to organize such a successful drive.

Diaper Drive Success!

Friday and Saturday of our Diaper Drive was a huge success! Both the teachers and students of Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center helped to prepare us for donations.

So far we have collected over 7,000 diapers for our community and the Diaper Bank of CT. We are so close to our goal of 10,000! Many of our families at the school utilize this service to help support their needs.

Friday morning we were visited by several people including Beth Bye, Commissioner of Connecticut's Office of Early Childhood, Janet Alfano, Executive Director of the Diaper Drive of CT, and Gail Nolan, Head of Bloomfield Family Resource Center.

While they were here, Director of Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center Jessica Salvador gave a tour of our facilities and talked about the importance of The Diaper Drive of CT.

Beth Bye said she was "amazed at the creativity of the teachers and how engaged all the children were," and she even ran into one of our toddler teachers who was a former student of hers.

Big Red Buggies!

How can you do anything but smile at our Bloomfield Congregational Preschool and Childcare Center “Big Red Buggies” (and at the amazing teachers and beautiful children)? Seen frequently all around Town generating smiles and warm feelings here in Bloomfield!

Director of Bloomfield Congregational Preschool and Childcare Center, Jessica Salvador shares that "A woman who lives in Seabury rang the school doorbell and told me,

I just wanted to say how much seeing your children in those buggies made my day. It put the biggest smile on my face that I had to stop over and say hi and ask if there is anything I could get for the children at the school.

I told her how happy it makes me feel to have someone from the community stop by and tell us how much seeing the children in the community means to them. I invited her in to take a tour of the school and a few days later she stopped by again to drop off new books for our infant and toddler classrooms."

Thank you so much to all the teachers who give our community a reason to smile!

Shown to the right are Jen Chung, our Child Development Center's Assistant Director, teacher Dhanyah Bascom, Micah James & Ahleyah James (Dhanyah’s kids), and teacher Nicole Dillion.

Jen was representing the Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center as well as the Bloomfield Congregational Church. Together they passed out flyers, many face masks, free books, new Church pens, and our Newsletters.

We thank our excellent teachers and directors for putting together such a beautiful display. We love getting a chance to talk to the community face to face.
