OUR HISTORY

A long-standing pillar in the community, The Bloomfield Congregational Church has always been one of acceptance and love. As history shows, from assisting members of the underground railroad to being a spiritual gathering place for the agricultural community and then to homeowners who took up residence in the new housing developments of the 1950s, the church has been a forerunner in welcoming all.

n 1960, the church realized the need for a safe learning environment for the town’s young children, so the First Congregational Nursey School was established. Since then, the school serves an educational program for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age to suit the demands of the growing community and the world. For example, in 2021, the need for infant and toddler care grew in the community, and BCC, renamed the school to be known as Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare Center and added an infant and toddler program to meet the need. Here, loving, trained, licensed, and certified employees are committed to your childcare and development needs.

The Bloomfield Congregational Church owns and operates the Childcare Center. The Childcare Center School Board is responsible for all school governing policies. The Board membership includes church members, teachers, and parents from the childcare center. The center is licensed by the Department of Health, certified by the State of Connecticut, and approved by the Town Fire Marshall and Local Health Inspector. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
